UNDERLYING CONNECTION

Have you ever had the experience where someone else comes up with an invention, and you suddenly realize it is similar to one of your ideas? This person may be completely unrelated to you, and may live in a totally different part of the world, but somehow the same line of thinking occurred to both of you.

This kind of synchronicity happens all the time. For instance, the Mesoamerican pyramids were built without any awareness of the Egyptian pyramids. Languages arose at around the same historical period in different parts of the world, separated by thousands of miles. Breakthroughs in science are often made by scientists without any coordination or communication with one another.

In the Tao paradigm, this is a naturally occurring phenomenon and not a surprise at all, since we are all connected to one another at a fundamental level of reality. You tap into the same metaphysical realm for inspiration as everyone else, and in that realm thoughts are real and exist independently of the thinker. You have always had this ability, because you are a conduit of something far greater and far beyond the confines of the material world.

The Tao Today

Get used to thinking of yourself as part of a totality, rather than a separate entity, distinct and apart from everyone else. Think of yourself as a drop of water in the cosmic ocean of the Tao. You have a natural ability to explore the riches in its depths.
